Hanna uses colour as a form of self expression. As a student she was fascinated by and often studied the American Expressionist movement of the 1940's and 50's. Characterised by gestural brush-strokes or mark-making, spontaneity and intuitive colour palettes, particularly to express emotion.

"My primary objective is to paint from emotional memory, channelling my inner child - the most authentic and uninhibited version of my creative self.

I hope my paintings express a childlike playfulness and innocence others can relate to. I am particularly interested in how environments make us feel and specifically, moments and places that bring comfort and how that can imprint on our memory. 

My work is deeply intuitive and I hope it resonates with people to connect to their inner child. I was once told that if I want to relate to someone and understand them, consider their inner child and in doing this we can be far more empathetic, compassionate, patient and less judgemental."
